Summary of Today's CAT Club Meeting
Today we had a meeting that made us think, debate, and, above all, filled us with a desire to act! The central theme was our feathered friends, the birds, and the invisible danger posed by electricity towers. Yes, those poles that seem harmless, but for birds, they are deadly traps. Did you know that in Argentina birds suffer a lot because of electricity towers? The numbers from Spain are chilling! And here in Argentina, even though we don't have studies, it's surely not much different! Imagine: a bird lands in the wrong place and... zap! Or worse, a mid-air collision! But hey, we're not sitting idly by! We proposed several ideas to protect our winged friends: plastic covers to isolate those dangerous points, 'tuned' insulation to modify the towers and make them safer, lights and sounds to scare the birds with cool devices, and agreements with companies to join forces and save the birds. Nicolás, a genius from CONICET, told us about his work to understand where the most vulnerable birds are, and we talked about using GPS and cell phones to track them closely. Technology serving nature! Maru gave us a summary of the Latam IA conference, a blast of information! We talked about how AI is changing the world of work, the "fear of becoming obsolete" (FOBO!), regulation, and the importance of innovation. And hey, we also talked about taking care of our mental health in this technological era! Today at CAT Club, we demonstrated, once again, that technology can be a powerful tool to solve important problems. From protecting birds to understanding the impact of AI, we are ready to face the challenges and build a better future! And remember, always with popcorn and free Wi-Fi!
